Custom Safes for Architects and Designers | Trade Program

By Robert Tompkin — Founder, Luxe Safes. 20+ years in NYC’s Diamond District; 2,000+ custom safes built.

Luxe Safes works with residential architects, interior designers and estate managers as a trade partner: made-to-order, UL TL-15 and TL-30 rated jewelry safes built to the exact dimensions, finishes and millwork details of your project. Founder Robert Tompkin has spent 20+ years building safes this way – over 2,000 custom builds, including the safes and vault rooms of New York’s Diamond District – and every project runs founder-direct, from spec to white-glove installation.

Why architects and designers spec Luxe

A catalog safe forces the room to adapt to the product. A Luxe safe is a built-to-spec element of the room: any dimensions, finishes selected to match the palette or millwork, interiors configured to the client’s actual collection. The security is never compromised for the design – TL-15 and TL-30 rated steel is the starting point, and the Gem Guard Ultra, our TL-30 flagship, is described as the strongest steel safe in the world. The result passes both reviews that matter: the client’s insurer and the client’s eye.

How the trade workflow runs

StageWhat happens
1. ConsultationYou bring the space and the client requirements; we bring the security spec. Direct access to the founder, not an account queue
2. Dimensions and specThe safe is specified to your drawings – custom dimensions, door swing, drawer extension, load path and anchoring plan
3. Finish and interior selectionExterior finishes coordinated with your design; interiors of hardwood drawers lined in Ultrasuede, configured for the client’s jewelry and watches
4. FabricationMade to order – every safe is built for the project, never pulled from stock
5. White-glove installationNationwide delivery, placement and anchoring, coordinated with your construction schedule

What we provide the project team

Dimensioned specifications for your drawings, finish coordination, weight and structural requirements for the engineer, and installation scheduling that respects an active job site. For closet projects we collaborate with the closet designer so drawer heights, lighting and adjacencies are planned – see our interior designers page and the walk-in closet safe guide. For estate-scale requirements we also design and build vault rooms, the same work we do for Diamond District jewelers.

Design freedom, with the security questions answered

Two Luxe positions simplify your client conversations. First, ratings: TL-15 and TL-30 are independent UL certifications, so the security story is verifiable, not vendor marketing – here is what the ratings mean. Second, locks: no Luxe safe uses a fingerprint or biometric lock – a deliberate reliability stance your clients will appreciate ten years in. A Luxe safe has appeared in HBO’s Wizard of Lies and in People Magazine’s closet tour of Bethenny Frankel’s apartment – but the quietest reference is the one your client never has to worry about.

Frequently asked questions

Does Luxe Safes work directly with architects and interior designers?

Yes – trade collaboration is core to the business. Projects run founder-direct with Robert Tompkin: dimensioned specs for your drawings, finish coordination with your design, structural requirements for your engineer, and installation scheduled around the job site.

Can a safe be built to exact custom dimensions for millwork?

Every Luxe safe is made to order, so custom dimensions are the default, not an upcharge exception. Safes are routinely integrated into closet islands, cabinetry and millwork, finished to coordinate with the design.

What security ratings should we spec for a client’s jewelry collection?

UL TL-15 for most serious collections, UL TL-30 for the highest-value collections and estates – both independently tested classes that insurers recognize. Luxe Safes builds both for residential use.

Does Luxe Safes handle delivery and installation on an active project?

Yes – white-glove installation is included nationwide, with placement and anchoring handled by professionals and scheduled in coordination with your construction timeline.
